After over 2 years of being targeted by spam from different sources and lately even with porn on our forums we decided to do the responsible thing given our very limited resources: Forums will be read-only from now on and slowly reshaped to be an alternate knowledge base. To replace our discussion boards we opened an interactive blog here.

In the past two months we have been literally submerged by spam, both in the wiki and the forums, preventing us to focus on the content. As a protective measures we've shut down private messaging in the forum and we are considering applying content protection to most wiki pages unless we can find a dedicated moderator. Added new Croatian articles, categorized uncategorized pages. To all contributors: please remember to add a category to your contribution pages, otherwise they will be much harder to find for the users and will greatly increase the workload for our limited staff. Thanks.

With our host, PowWeb, we experienced an internal server migration. As a result our temporary URL microsoftuse.temp.powweb.com no longer exists. The new temporary address is y2kyan05.powweb.com. However, with ambition not to suffer from page ranking again, we decided to use the wmwiki.com for our forum as well. So the new forum URL is wmwiki.com/forum.

What is VC-1? VC-1 is a video codec specification that is currently being standardized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and implemented by Microsoft as Windows Media Video (WMV) 9 Advanced Profile. VC-1 (formally known as SMPTE 421M) is transport- and container-independent, allowing delivery over MPEG-2 and RTP systems as well as ASF, which enables device manufacturers and content services to create interoperable solutions. Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile implements these features, making it much easier to deliver Windows Media content over traditional broadcast and wireless infrastructures.
